About the Artist

Hello, It's Me!
My Name is Jinali Patel and I am a 28 years old living in Stamford, Connecticut. I am a full time engineer during the day and a painter at night. I have a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Psychology. I am a self taught artist who started drawing and painting at a young age in my parent’s home. I offer commissioned paintings and custom digital art services. This is used to illustrate my long time interest in art.
WHERE IT STARTED
This passion for art started when I was a little girl. I would sit in front of the TV for hours and draw cartoon characters from my favorite shows. I spent so much time just drawing and recreating designs. I was so obsessed with this magazine and the cover that I would recreate the portrait of the Indian woman, trying to get it as close to perfect as I can. As time passed, I avoided drawing people because it was never perfect enough. My family continued to encourage me to follow my interest in drawing and helped by providing me with the utensils necessary to improve my skills. I continued to draw, with art class being my favorite class in elementary school. I learned different techniques with different materials, finding that most of my interest was in black and white drawings.
This hobby gave me a sense of peace of mind whenever I was stressed. Throughout high school, I took graphic design which helped me learn so many different techniques for my art and gave me an introduction to illustration. I eventually started experimenting with different mediums like pastels, oil paintings, acrylic, and charcoal. In college, with a packed engineering schedule, volunteering as an EMT and painting, I had decided to join a greek organization. Joining a greek organization gave me the opportunity to showcase my talent to others and create canvases for those organizations. Leaving college gave me more time and opportunity to practice the different mediums I had learned throughout the years and sell my paintings. I'm still learning different techniques to this day, and continue to use what I’ve learned to create more unique pieces.

INSPIRATION
Early on, I had a huge interest in the moon, stars and the anatomy of the body. College has given me the chance to bring my two worlds together. I loved learning about how the body and brain works in school and then applying that with my art by drawing out the bones of the body, different areas of the brain, and helping to design implants and instrumentation. My art has helped me embrace who I am and share it with others. I get to explore different mediums and challenge myself. I have been feeling more and more inspired by all the different places I’ve traveled too to include it in my art. If you look closely, nature itself is art.
Art gives you the freedom to create and express yourself. It’s allowed me to express my feelings and emotions without having to use words. I hope my art can be used to help others to feel those emotions as well. My inspiration for creating my pieces have come from artists like Tahlia Stanton, Sincerely Art (Giselle Mariel Ibarra), Casey Lynn Hancock, and Inquisitive.
